Instructions for checking your computer's network interface speed.

Checking your computer's network interface speed

As a part of troubleshooting a UFB speed issue, you can review if your PC or Mac supports a gigabit network interface by following the below steps.

Windows:

1.From the taskbar, open Networking and Sharing Center.

2.Click on the blue text next to 'Connections:'

3.Review the speed on the PC.

If the Speed is any value less than 1.0 Gbps → Click 'Properties'

4.Click 'Configure'

5.Click 'Advanced' and under the "Property" field select 'Speed & Duplex'

Value should be one of the following options:

  • 1.0 Gbps Full Duplex
  • Auto Negotiation
If any other values are set, change it to one of the above and click 'Ok'

If '1.0 Gbps Full Duplex' is not an available option under Value then this computer's network interface does not support Gigabit. Arrange to perform the test from another computer with a gigabit network interface.

Mac:

1.Open System Preferences

2.Select Network

3.Select the relevant Connected Ethernet adapter and click Advanced

4.

Select the Hardware Tab and review the entry in the Speed field:

  • If Speed is set to any value lower than 1000baseT
  • Review if it can be manually set
  • If 1000baseT is not available then the device doesn't support a gigabit connection
